Normal Skin

I would say this is the dream skin for most people. People with oily skin often have "beautiful" skin as many might refer to it. Normal skin means that your skin is basically the same in all parts of your face. Most people with normal skin do not suffer from acne or dry and flaky skin. Those that have normal skin, often have more room to wear different types of products without negative effects to their skin.

Oily Skin

This might be a given, but one of the easiest way to know if you have oily skin is by looking and feeling. Meaning, if you wash your face and soon after you touch your skin and it feels oily then there is a good chance you have oily skin. Another way is paying attention to see how shiny your face looks throughout the day. A common thing with people who have oily face is their pore size. As a person has an oily face, pores tend to be bigger. One thing to watch out for is acne, not everyone with oily skin has acne but they are more prone to acne.

Combination Skin

As you might imagine, this is a combination of types of skins which are normal and oily. Although it is a combination, it usually leans more towards being a normal skin type. I think the best way to explain it is saying, normal skin type with problem areas including forehead, nose and chin.

Sensitive Skin

The most simple way to think of sensitive skin is skin that easily reacts to products. People with sensitive skin tend to have negative effects on their skin quicker. Most of the time, those that have sensitive skin tend to show more redness on their skin. Sometimes, they might even develop dry patches or red spots. This is one of the most difficult types of skin, since it is hard to find right products and at times is very limited.

Dry Skin

As you might imagine, dry skin is skin that feel dry to the touch. Many times those with dry skin might have skin that feels tight or develop dry patches. Dry skin is not just about looks but it has to do with health. Skin needs elasticity and the way to combat dryness is by using cream, Face creams are the best way to give your skin the moisture it needs. People with dry skin sometimes find themselves applying cream multiple times to have moisture trapped in their ski. When someone has sensitive skin, people tend to be bit more sensitive to what products they use.

How can I know my skin type?

There are many ways to find out, for the most part there are no formulas. Finding out is very much based on watching and paying attention to your skin. You could try "The Day Test" this is one of the most simple ways to know your skin type. You basically watch your face throughout the dat and take notes of its appearance and how it feels. If your skin feel oily and shiny, then its a good indication that you have oily skin. I you feel that your t-zone is shiny but the rest of your face is not then it might mean you have combination skin. Ask yourself if your skin is dry or flaky then that likely means you have dry skin. If you feel your skin is itchy or red then that probably means you have sensitive skin. This is one of the simplest ways to understand your skin.

Think Simple

Skin types do not define your skin completely. You might find your skin in between two types of skins, which is totally fine. Skin types are just a good way to start when it comes to finding the best skincare for you. As you understand your skin, you will be able to give your skin what it's asking for. Taking time to go back to the basics will help you a lot. Take today to watch your skin and see how it reacts throughout the day.

Since everyone is different, it's important to know what kind of skin you have to know what products your skin will benefit from the most. One of the main reasons why people do not achieve their skin goals is that most people do not know their skin type.
